Plot Twist Category – A Cinderella Story

Cinderella’s heart overflowed with joy and relief. She now had the chance to escape her life of drudgery and the harsh words of her stepmother and stepsisters. Her dream came true.

The look of shock still adorned the face of Cinderella’s stepmother, and Anastasia attended to Drizella, who lay faint on the floor. The Grand Duke extended his arm and said, “Then there is only one item to address before we deliver you back to The Prince.”

A long scroll unrolled in front of Cinderella’s face. “Why, what’s this?” Cinderella fingered the scratchy brown paper.

“Just a little agreement on which the Prince requests your signature.” He produced a quill pen and a some ink. “Have a seat my dear. As soon as you sign this, we shall depart for the palace. The prince is awaiting your return.”

Visions of her new luxurious life flashed behind Cinderella’s eyes. A cozy and soft bed. Stunning gowns. Ladies-in-waiting to help with her every need. Never having to cook or clean again.

The Grand Duke shoved the paper in Cinderella’s hand, dipped the quill into the ink and tapped his foot as he waited.

Cinderella scanned the beautiful script. But wait. Something wasn’t right. “Latin?”

“Yes.” The Grand Duke coughed. “All royal business is conducted in such.” He waved the pen.

Thank goodness Cinderella had read ‘Latin for Dummies’—one of the many books she had sneaked into her room. A Pre-Nuptial Agreement? What was that? She studied the manuscript, a fiery anger growing in her belly. The Prince asked her to sign this? What was wrong with him? And what had her Fairy Godmother gotten her into?

This wasn’t quite the dream Cinderella had expected.

And that is all I can give you. Since Cassie Mae and her cohorts limited us to 300 words, you’ll just have to use your imagination to see what was in the pre nup!

Brilliant twist! Definitely not quite what she had in mind. And I love that she read “latin for dummies” Ha!
Fun entry Suzi! Thanks for being part of the fest!

  2. Aloha Suzi,

Classic twist… I was like “no she isn’t going to throw in a pre-nup…” and you did. I love it!!!

Thanks for the follow, for commenting and for participating 🙂 I’m a new follower 🙂

  3. I would be screwed. There’s no way I would have snuck “Latin for Dummies” into my room… well maybe to use it as a booster seat but never to read.

I can see both sides here. I mean, if I had the Princes money I would probably ask for a prenup too. But if I was ‘Ella I would be P.O.’d to be asked to sign one. Yes I like the double standard there.

    Great twist!
