I thought I’d give you a little update about my progress on NaNoWriMo, which you can see in this widget.
A reminder for those who don’t know. NaNo is the time to try write 50,000 words in one month.
So I’m doing a young adult contemporary about two foster kids: Kylie and Christian. (Currently titled Never Again) And funny enough, the boy voice is coming easier to write. Of course when I give it to beta readers, they can tell me if it really sounds like a guy.
I didn’t do too much planning. This is what I had going into NaNo.
-basic personalities and descriptions
-a little of their backgrounds
-the main problem of the story
-the ending (I didn’t know this part until right before I started)
I started writing at the beginning. Got a few days worth in, then veered to the climax. Wrote that cause it gets the juices flowing. Then backtracked to in the middle. I don’t have my exact timeline down so I know I’ll be adjusting.
And I need to do research into police procedure and going to jail.
But I’m feeling good. I’ve still got scene ideas in my notebook that I haven’t written out yet. But new ones are filling in as I go along.
So I’m happy with my progress, and I’m right on track.
What about you other NaNo participants?
